| The visionary
art of Bruce Harman weaves silent beauty with the steady undercurrent
of the Mystery traditions. His acrylic paintings carry a note of contemplation
within the careful evocations of nature and light, inviting the viewer
to dwell... Being fascinated by temple architecture, Bruce builds his paintings on a hidden framework of sacred geometry. The shapes of squares, triangles and harmonic rectangles inform the placement of horizons, lightbeams and eyes... The painting technique has developed slowly, through an involvement with airbrush to a painstakingly detailed realistic style with traditional hand brush. Each painting is a journey into awareness of new realms... painting to understand, in a mysterious way, the subtle lessons held by the mineral kingdom, or a cloud-filled sky or the presence of a Master. Most recently, computers have transformed the way Bruce produces prints of his paintings. His B.F.A. in Printmaking from the Philadelphia College of Art was focussed in stone lithography and wood engraving, forming a secure foundation for the modern day abilities of archival inkjet printing. (For more detailed information about the prints, click here.) Bruce Harman lives in Santa Cruz, California. |
